A path driven by passion, determination, and a commitment to learning and mastering a completely new field—with the intention not only to acquire knowledge but also to help others improve their lives—is no easy task. However, someone as dedicated as Master S.B.S. Surendran can undoubtedly achieve this level of excellence. Master Surendran did not enter the realm of metaphysics by design. He was originally an Electrical and Electronics Engineer, holding a Postgraduate Diploma in Bioenergetics from France, and is an Associate Member of the Institution of Engineers of India. He spent the early part of his career in the power and telecommunications industry, managing various projects. Nevertheless, even during this time, his curiosity began to gravitate toward forms, shapes, and energies that could not be quantified or measured in conventional ways. His fascination with photography began in the sixth or seventh grade, when he carried a camera with him—not a digital one, but an old film-based model. Unlike most photographers who focused on people or events, he was captivated by buildings. He adored temple towers, intricate pillars, and ancient ruins. While others on family trips were drawn to the stories or idols in temples, Master Surendran admired the architecture itself. He was intrigued by the mathematics behind the design. What was the reason for the geometry of those structures? This curiosity led him to explore temple architecture, historical building designs, and eventually, Vedic Vastu. Although no one in his family worked in this field, they possessed a valuable asset: knowledge of Sanskrit and interpretation of the ancient scripts and verses.

His father, although a Senior Civil Servant in the Indian Government, had a profound understanding of Sanskrit and ancient scriptures, which aided him in interpreting ancient texts. The encouragement of his parents deepened his studies and propelled him further into the realm of metaphysical science.
His mother and brother, in particular, encouraged him to follow his heart, guiding him toward a self-directed path that ultimately evolved into a full-time profession. From that moment on, he never looked back. He began conducting independent research, much of which required a deep understanding of essential knowledge written in Sanskrit. With patience and effort, and by seeking assistance from his family, he deciphered the inner meanings of these texts.
During this period, he was introduced to Feng Shui by an Indonesian acquaintance. This was in the pre-internet era, when information was exchanged through traditional mail. Books, copied manuscripts, and fragments of notes opened up an entirely new dimension for him.
He soon recognized parallels between Feng Shui and Vastu, despite their regional differences. The five elements, balance, and harmony were central to both practices. Although the methods varied, their essence was similar—which further intrigued him.
This curiosity led him to the world-renowned Grandmaster Yap Cheng Hai, one of his early teachers and mentors, who helped him understand the profound science of Feng Shui. He later underwent rigorous training and education, graduating in various aspects of Feng Shui, including astrology, under different Grandmasters such as GM Lillian Too, GM Vincent Koh, and GM Raymond Lo. He also studied Bioenergetics and pursued his postgraduate diploma under Dr. Rene Nacchacin in France.
As an engineer, Master Surendran found the principles of Feng Shui easy to understand. For him, it was not a form of magic; it was mathematics. Authentic Feng Shui is not about randomly placing fountains or mirrors—that is merely a diluted version. Instead, the correct approach involves utilizing Compass (Loupan) measurements and time-tested formulas. He delved deeper, studying Chinese astrology, the Four Pillars of Destiny (BaZi), and even the I Ching. While casting coins to form hexagrams may seem arbitrary to many, to him, it represented binary code: a straight line or a broken one, a one or a zero.
At one point, he managed his telecommunications business while also providing consultations. However, he soon realized that he could not effectively serve two masters. Approximately 26 to 27 years ago, he made the bold decision to leave his business behind and fully commit to Vastu, Feng Shui, and astrology.
He works quietly and refrains from disclosing client names or sharing extravagant testimonials. He likens his approach to that of a doctor, believing that personal circumstances should not be commercialized. This commitment to privacy remains steadfast. Those who seek his services typically learn about him through word of mouth or discussions on social media.
Master Surendran explains concepts in a clear and straightforward manner. Energy is in a constant state of flux—much like how we feel at the end of a long day. A house that is 30 or 50 years old often harbours stagnant energy. Replenishing this energy is not merely optional; it is essential. This is why spring cleaning holds significant importance in Eastern cultures. Before the Chinese New Year, old items are discarded, fresh paint is applied, and spaces are cleared. This practice is not just symbolic; it serves as a method to eliminate lethargic energy.
He advises clients to align with these natural rhythms, as energy trends fluctuate annually. A water fountain that enhances your success in the north this year may hinder it next year. These annual adjustments are not mere superstitions; they are essential to the natural cycles that help realign energies. One example involves a biotechnology and pharmaceutical unit in the United States that faced significant challenges in establishing a plant, despite substantial investments. Trial runs were unsuccessful, and approvals were delayed. Master S.B.S. Surendran conducted a thorough analysis of the site, identifying issues such as poor soil quality, irregular land contours, improperly positioned utilities, and low-energy zones. He candidly informed them that not all problems could be resolved, but with dedicated effort, progress was achievable. They took his advice to heart. Approvals began to flow in, and production commenced. Today, the plant operates successfully.
Similarly, a large developer based in Dallas, Texas, specializes in acquiring heritage properties and renovating them while preserving their original design. The renovations are adapted to Vastu and Feng Shui principles to promote good fortune, resulting in substantial business gains thereafter. Another instance involved a large BPO in Bangalore, where he was responsible for designing their headquarters in accordance with the principles of Vastu and Feng Shui. Every detail—from breakout zones to the food court—was meticulously planned to satisfy not only the client’s requests but also the requirements of Vastu and Feng Shui. Years later, the company expanded into software and artificial intelligence. Many of its founding leaders continue to seek his advice, even for personal decisions such as selecting the color of the new cars they plan to purchase.
