The IIT Graduates Turning Harmful Diesel Pollution into Usable.

ree

In a small lab in Bengaluru, a group of IIT graduates saw an opportunity hidden in something everyone else wanted to get rid of. The black smoke from diesel engines, a major cause of air pollution, became the very thing they wanted to capture and repurpose. From that thought was born Chakr Innovation, a startup that turns harmful carbon emissions into usable ink and paints. What began as a college project is now a growing clean-tech business that shows how Indian entrepreneurship can lead the world in sustainability.

The idea came to life when the founders, including Arpit Dhupar, saw the thick exhaust from diesel generators choking Delhi’s air. Instead of treating it as an unavoidable problem, they asked a simple question could the soot be collected and converted into something useful? After endless nights of experiments, they built a device that could capture up to 90 percent of particulate matter from diesel exhaust without affecting engine performance. The collected soot was then processed to make high-quality ink called Chakr Shield.

Their product turned a serious environmental hazard into a valuable resource. The ink, now used by several companies for printing and packaging, carries a powerful story. Every drop represents pollution that didn’t reach someone’s lungs. This blend of science, social purpose, and entrepreneurship caught global attention. Chakr Innovation started partnering with major corporations and government bodies to expand its reach across cities.

The journey wasn’t easy. Clean-tech startups in India face funding challenges and long testing phases before they can scale. The team often worked with limited resources and had to prove that their technology could perform in real-world conditions. But their belief in creating both environmental and business impact kept them moving. They found investors who shared their vision and soon began deploying their emission control devices across telecom towers, industries, and vehicles.

What makes their story special is the mix of youth, science, and responsibility. At a time when most startups chase consumer tech or finance, these IIT graduates chose to build something that protects the air we breathe. Their work shows that growth and sustainability can go hand in hand, creating a model for future entrepreneurs to follow.

Today, Chakr Innovation stands as a symbol of how Indian startups can lead the fight against pollution through practical ideas. Their journey proves that real leadership is about solving problems that matter, not just building profit. From the smoke of diesel engines, they created something far more valuable a breath of cleaner air and a message of hope for the planet.
