Prajas Aggarwal - The Entrepreneurs of India Magazine

The Suryauday Solar story starts with a dream that began much earlier than the company’s official establishment in 2019. Managing Partner, Prajas Aggarwal, was already an experienced professional in the solar energy industry with more than 15 years of expertise. Having been in the field of commerce and a firm believer in sustainable development, he kept a keen eye as electricity prices kept soaring and the whole world started talking about clean energy. He remembers how the drive towards renewable energy in India in 2015, along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging the nation towards an Atmanirbhar Bharat, became the tipping point. To him, solar power was not only the future but also the present solution to the growing crisis of soaring power bills and environmental destruction. With just ₹50,000 and passion as his capital, he set out to build something important.

Since its inception, Suryauday Solar has prioritized making solar power accessible and affordable for households and businesses. In India, the energy industry has often been an enigma of technical jargon, hidden charges, and confusing funding schemes. For Prajas, it was simple: keep the customer first. The SunPay RESCO model became one of the company’s breakthroughs, allowing small and medium businesses to install solar systems without any initial investment, paying only based on the energy they consumed. Another innovation was the Suryauday Solar Tracking App, which provided customers with real-time data on their power generation, helping them feel secure in their decision.

Behind this expansion is the guidance of Sh. Sanjay Agarwal ji, who has been the mentor to the company. His 35 years of experience in strategy, management, and people development created a culture of discipline, ethics, and customer confidence. Under his mentorship, Suryauday Solar has built a strong team of over 120 engineers and executives, all united by the same objective: the passion to make renewable energy work. Responsibility, accountability, and continuous learning are the values that flow through the company like its lifeline.

Of the numerous installations Suryauday Solar has completed, one remains a very personal memory for Prajas. It was the installation of a 3 kW residential solar plant for a small family in East Delhi. A month later, the client’s wife called him to share that their electricity bill had dropped by 2,200 rupees. She told him her husband was so pleased with the savings that he bought her a saree. For Prajas, this was a powerful demonstration of what solar could mean in everyday life. He is more than an installer of solar panels; he is a builder of dreams and a collaborator in India’s journey towards sustainability, something he expresses with great passion.

The journey has not been easy. The renewable energy sector in India faces many obstacles, including policy delays, lack of awareness, and financial challenges. Convincing businesses to trust solar power was especially difficult in the early years. Banks were reluctant, merchants had to be persuaded, and the burden of many roles fell on Prajas himself. He recalls being on the ground, pursuing approvals, handling customer calls, and even struggling to raise capital. Yet perseverance and transparency helped the company in winning confidence. Suryauday Solar never compromised on quality despite thin margins, and over time, client loyalty turned into referrals, creating the strong foundation they stand on today.

Sustainability has also been made an integral part of Suryauday Solar’s DNA. For them, it is not just about selling solar panels but about ensuring systems are long-lasting and waste is minimized. Their SuryaSecure Guarantee Plan provides customers with performance assurance over the long term, reducing unnecessary replacements. The Suryauday App also tracks carbon savings in real time, giving families and businesses the satisfaction of knowing they are contributing to the fight against climate change. These initiatives have already eliminated thousands of tons of CO2. With every installation, they see a small yet meaningful victory in the war against pollution.

Another important mission has been awareness. The company organizes outreach programs, education camps, and social media campaigns to spread the word about solar energy. In semi-urban and rural regions, misconceptions about solar still exist. The Suryauday team works actively to inform people about the financial and environmental advantages of going solar. Their message is simple yet powerful: when every home and business embraces solar energy, India takes a step closer to energy independence.

Looking ahead, Suryauday Solar’s vision goes far beyond Delhi. The company plans to expand its presence across India in the coming decade. The goal is to develop an ecosystem where every household, factory, and office can be energy independent. Plans include strengthening financing models, advancing digitalisation of power management, and increasing community engagement. The dream is of a future where renewable energy will no longer be considered an alternative but will become the primary source of power in the country.

To young entrepreneurs, Prajas offers advice drawn from his own journey. Patience and consistency are the keys, he says, and values should never be compromised. The true impact is created when you bring value to others and yourself by solving real problems. He began his start-up as a one-man show, but today he has a team that shares the same spirit. For him, the culture of trust and service is the real foundation of success, one that, once built, will last.

At its core, Suryauday Solar is not merely a company; it is a cause. Each solar panel they install is not just a piece of technology, but hope for a family, savings for a business, and a step towards clean and affordable energy for India. Being Apka Apna SolarWalla makes them not only a company but also a trusted partner in the solar revolution.
