The Big Lion Foundation's founder, Shri Abhijit Mehta, is known for his social activities. He has sponsored more than 100 underprivileged children for their education. His foundation has also performed 25 heart operations on children between the ages of 1 and 5. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Big Lion Foundation team distributed over 12,000 ration kits, PPE kits, and medical equipment. Abhijit Mehta and his team were appreciated by the Governor of Maharashtra, Shri Bhagat Singh Koshyari ji, with an appreciation letter for their social activities during the pandemic. Being from the Jain community, Abhijit Mehta is also working on the Jivdaya Project, which aims to protect and feed stray animals and spread the message of Ahinsa Parmo Dharma.
Today, on March 29th, which happens to be Abhijit Mehta's birthday, the Indian Postal Stamp has honored him by featuring his picture on My Stamp. The Big Lion Foundation has over 6000 members across Mumbai who will be celebrating Abhijit Mehta's birthday with various social activities, including Anna Daan, snack distribution at an orphanage, medical camps, and sports activities. The president, Sushil Rajesawant, trustees Vinay Naik, Mahesh Suryawanshi, Sahil Shah, Mohan Gounder, and all the core committee members are also having a special pooja at a Lord Shiva temple for Abhijit Mehta's birthday celebration.
