Amit Bansal’s journey is a story of perseverance, learning, and building bridges between cultures. Growing up in a humble home in Delhi, Amit’s early life was shaped by the hard work of his parents. His father was a street vendor and his brother and he often helped him after school and university. During festivals like Diwali and Rakhi, the family sold lights, rakhis, and small items in local markets. His mother contributed by stitching clothes at home. “Watching my parents work tirelessly taught me what resilience and responsibility truly mean,” Amit reflects. Money was limited, but the lessons in work ethic and values were plentiful. Academically, Amit did not excel at first, scoring a six CGPA in his 10th grade. He often felt uncertain about his future until he entered the 11th standard and met teachers who believed in him. Encouragement from his political science teacher and economics tutor pushed him to work harder, and soon he topped his school. With limited guidance from his parents, his teachers filled the gap, shaping his academic and personal growth. Initially, Amit planned to pursue a job paying twenty thousand rupees a month and study Political Science Honours. One teacher suggested he learn a foreign language and recommended German. Amit followed that advice, earning both a Bachelor’s and Master’s in German Studies.
Studying at Delhi University and attending Goethe-Institut courses was not easy or cheap. To support himself, Amit started teaching German, which began as a necessity but soon became a passion. He taught at language schools like Study Feeds, Boundless Kochi, and Lingma and served as a Guest Professor at Delhi University and other colleges. He also worked with Goethe-Institut organizing cultural and academic events. These experiences showed him the transformative power of language and inspired him to create GermanWithAmit, which started with a small group of learners and eventually grew into a community of over 130,000 people.

Amit’s journey also took him across Germany on scholarships including DAAD HSK, Erasmus Mundus, and programs at universities in Freiburg, Wuppertal, Köln, Berlin, and Munich. He completed a Weiterbildung in DaF, translated a Hindi novel into German, and even served as an interpreter for the Indian Prime Minister’s Mann Ki Baat. His professional path included working with Amazon Germany, which offered insights into international work culture. Amit credits friendships, connections, and his faith for guiding him. He often spent time in the temple as a child and believes that devotion to Hanuman ji gave him courage and direction in unexpected ways.
GermanWithAmit today is more than an online language school. It helps learners master German and pursue education and career opportunities in Germany. Amit faced challenges starting out, from limited resources to balancing content creation with teaching. “Start small, but start. Many people wait for the perfect plan or resources. Just begin and let the journey shape you,” he advises. He also learned the importance of trusting a team, balancing work, and building systems to ensure sustainable growth. His team now consists of ten dedicated teachers, and he continues to expand both online and offline programs. Amit believes that learning a foreign language opens doors that were previously unimaginable. German has transformed his life and continues to help students achieve their dreams abroad. He emphasizes the role of family support in entrepreneurship, sharing how his parents provided both a foundation of values and the courage to take risks.
