Karan Singh Rajput: Mastering Complex Systems Across Global Technology Companies

Some careers follow a predictable path. Others are shaped by reinvention. For Karan Singh Rajput, the journey began in aviation before moving through engineering, finance, data science and technology. He studied Commercial Flying at Regional Airline Academy, received the Golden Wings and Best Flying Cadet recognition and worked as a First Officer with Gulfstream International Airlines. Aviation taught him discipline, responsibility and decision making.

He later joined IIT Delhi for a B.Tech in Mechatronics, Robotics and Automation Engineering, then completed a Master’s degree in Business, Management and Marketing at IIM Ahmedabad, graduating as a University Topper. He describes the three stages simply: aviation taught him discipline, engineering taught him how systems work and management taught him how organisations and people work.

His career included J.P. Morgan, Google, Meta, Morgan Stanley, Flipkart and Twitter. His work crossed business development, data science, algorithms, infrastructure, data engineering, payment systems and technology leadership. At Meta, he led data engineering work supporting research, product teams and leadership, including data models, production data pipelines and data quality.

At Twitter, he worked on feed design and algorithmic challenges across APAC. His curiosity has remained constant, particularly around complicated systems and how they can become reliable, intelligent and useful. His view is that at scale, technology is rarely just about writing code.

Some of his deepest lessons came outside work. The loss of his father, heartbreaks and changing friendships altered how he viewed time, relationships and success. Curiosity, adaptability, ownership and empathy now shape how he works with people.

His leadership rests on trust and clarity. He wants teams to understand what they are doing, why it matters and what success looks like, while also feeling free to challenge ideas. Family and relationships have kept him connected to life beyond work, and he has learned that opportunities often follow trust, with one assignment leading to another.

His future interests lie in AI, data and intelligent systems, along with developing people. His advice is simple: keep learning, stay humble, treat people with kindness and do not define yourself by one difficult chapter. A setback is an event, not an identity.
