Avinash Singh: Building Awareness Around Responsible E Waste Management

Avinash Singh is working to create greater awareness about electronic waste through Kunjal Foundation, a Section 8 company and NGO startup certified under Startup India with certificate number DIPP132200. His work comes from a simple concern about what happens to electronic waste after it leaves a household. Through Kunjal Foundation, he aims to educate people about the hazardous consequences of improper disposal of electronic waste and encourage safer waste management practices.
The idea developed from observing everyday life in society. People are busy with their daily routines and are trying to build better economic conditions, maintain good health and live in a healthy environment. Avinash saw an opportunity to connect these needs with responsible e waste management. Kunjal Foundation is still a greenfield project, but the team regularly reaches people, understands their needs and studies how its projects can help address those demands.

One of the biggest struggles in the beginning was taking the decision to start the journey and continue without stopping. Once the work began, Avinash found there were many opportunities in Indian society to do more for people. One major gap was education and knowledge about electronic waste. Many people are still not aware of the hazardous effects of e waste, while local scrap collectors often dismantle electronic items through traditional methods.
Kunjal Foundation wants to help these local scrap collectors sell electronic waste to authorized recyclers or adopt scientific methods for the extraction of metals. This can help them earn better while also reducing unsafe handling of electronic waste. Meeting people involved in solid waste, paper waste and used metal parts gave Avinash further confidence that there was a real need for better practices in waste management.
For Avinash, leadership also means taking responsibility and motivating business partners, suppliers and stakeholders to grow together in a positive manner. He also values small improvements in the lives of local vendors. When discussing their problems, he often advises them to use bank or online transactions instead of depending only on cash.

His belief is simple: “Always approach in positive manner.” That attitude has helped him build relationships beyond business and shaped his thinking about entrepreneurship.
Kunjal Foundation is still at an early stage, but Avinash has ambitions that reach beyond India. He plans to take the work internationally and hopes to collaborate with organisations such as WHO and UNICEF in the future, bringing greater awareness of responsible electronic waste disposal to a much wider audience.
