Anand Thangavelu: Driving Innovation in India’s Lubricant Market

In the crowded automotive lubricants market of India, Anand Thangavelu is building a name through persistence, product knowledge, and a clear belief in homegrown manufacturing. As the founder of ZEEOL PRIME FUEL (OPC) Pvt Ltd, he stepped into the lubricants oil business with a simple goal: create dependable engine oil and automotive lubricants that drivers and fleet owners can trust.


His brand SEAOL emerged from a mix of personal interest in automotive performance and a practical reading of the Indian market, where global labels often dominate shelves while local manufacturers struggle for visibility. For Anand, the beginning was not just about selling engine oil. It was about proving that an Indian lubricant manufacturer could compete in quality and reliability.




The idea for SEAOL came after noticing that many workshops and distributors relied heavily on international brands even when domestic manufacturing had the ability to deliver comparable products. That gap pushed him to build ZEEOL PRIME FUEL and step into the competitive world of automotive lubricants in India. The name SEAOL itself carries a simple story. Anand combined the words sea and oil to create a brand that suggests smooth and flowing performance.


The ocean became the metaphor. The lubricant became the product. Together they formed an identity that connects movement, power, and fluid motion. “The name SEAOL comes from a blend of sea and oil, symbolizing smooth performance like ocean waves combined with our core business,” Anand explains. Breaking into the lubricants oil market was not easy. Established brands already had strong distributor networks, deep marketing budgets, and decades of recognition.



Convincing workshops, dealers, and vehicle owners to try a new lubricant brand demanded patience and persistence. Building trust took time, and every new distributor relationship mattered. Anand often recalls those early months as a period filled with long conversations, small wins, and constant learning. SEAOL focused on quality from the start. The company produces engine oil, gear oil, and hydraulic oil designed for real world conditions faced by Indian vehicles.


High temperatures, dusty environments, and heavy usage create tough operating conditions for engines and machinery. To meet those demands, the company runs strict testing on viscosity, wear protection, and thermal stability. Lab checks are paired with field testing on actual vehicles and industrial equipment. The company also follows ISO standards and seeks third party certification for credibility.
