Advantage Assam 2.0: A Transformative Investment Summit Driving Economic Growth



Assam is poised for a monumental economic transformation with the signing of 28 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) worth INR 1,24,335 crore at the Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment & Infrastructure Summit 2025. The high-profile summit, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aims to propel industrial innovation and sustainable development in the state.


The agreements, signed in the presence of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, span various industries, including renewable energy, infrastructure, healthcare, education, and skill development. Notably, the summit has attracted significant global partnerships, reinforcing Assam’s growing prominence in the international investment landscape.


Key international collaborations include a partnership with Singapore’s Ministry of Trade & Industry to enhance nursing talent and skill development. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will contribute to healthcare and agricultural advancements, while Japan’s ASEAN One Co. Ltd. is set to establish a specialized skills training institute. Additionally, Japanese firms such as Meiko Career Partners, Spice Lemon, and MIRAI Japanese Learning Center have committed to developing a Japanese language institute to enhance workforce capabilities.


Leading Indian conglomerates are making substantial investments in Assam:

  • Vedanta Group: Investments in Oil & Gas

  • Adani Group: Focus on City Gas & Infrastructure

  • PNB Investment Services Ltd.: Establishing an Alternate Investment Fund

  • Tata Power, Greenko Energies, JSW Energy, and Welspun New Energy: Investments in Renewable Energy & Pump Storage Projects

  • DP World: Leading the Gati Shakti Infrastructure project

  • Welspun World: Investing in high-quality pipes and water storage tanks


The education and healthcare landscape in Assam is set for a major upgrade:

  • Human Potential Development Science Infotech Pvt Ltd. and Gaveshna University: Establishing new universities

  • Lilavati Foundation LLP and Global Health Ltd. (Medanta): Setting up multi-specialty hospitals

  • JB Marriot: Investing in a five-star hotel

  • Tamara Leisure Experiences Pvt Ltd.: Developing a luxury resort

  • Luxmi Tea Co. Pvt Ltd.: Investing in two tea tourism projects to boost Assam’s tourism industry


On February 26, additional agreements will be signed to further boost Assam’s industrial and skill development ecosystem. Notable investments include:

  • ITE Education Services and Assam Skill University: Advancing vocational training in collaboration with OIL India

  • Star Cements Ltd.: Establishing a Cement Clinker & Grinding Plant

  • Matheson Hydrogen Pvt Ltd.: Developing Grey Hydrogen & Steam Production projects


With these strategic investments and robust global collaborations, Assam is rapidly positioning itself as a hub for industrial innovation and sustainable economic growth. The Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit cements the state’s position as a leading investment destination in India, driving employment opportunities, infrastructure development, and technological advancements.
